Hi there! I’m Zoë.
I’m Zoë, a current sophomore at Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota. From January until late March of 2021 I am studying abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark, with DIS – Study Abroad Scandinavia. This term looks a little different than usual because of the pandemic since our classes are remote for the beginning of the program. Nonetheless, exploring Copenhagen, living in a Kollegium with Danish flatmates, and taking classes with DIS are all exciting prospects!
My core class is Cultural Diversity & Integration. As a prospective Sociology-Anthropology major, I’m intrigued by how the relative homogeneity in ethnic/racial populations in Denmark compares to a much more diverse United States. Additionally, my three elective courses are Travel Writing, Renewable Energy Systems, and Glued to the Screen: TV Shows, Norms, and Culture.
Some facts about me:
- I’m passionate about animal welfare, and for that reason I follow a vegan lifestyle. I’m always on the hunt for plant-based cafes and bakeries. To document meals I make and delicious foods that I try from various restaurants, I’ve started a vegan food diary here.
- As you can probably guess, I love animals. I particularly adore hedgehogs and elephants.
- I enjoy taking photos and videos! While traveling, I like to capture memorable moments and snippets of life. I’ve curated some of my favorite photos on the blog here.
- Journaling while abroad is one of my favorite hobbies. This travel blog is my means of producing content to share with others, but also for me to reflect on later.
